2018 Champions—Supporting and Promoting Bullying Prevention In Their Community

AK	Kuspuk School District	We will be taking the Pledge, wearing orange, and using Bullying 101. I am going to support doing a walk-a-thon for community involvement.
AL	Allen Thornton Career Technical Center HOSA Club	Will promote students to wear orange on October 24th. Students will complete a display board on bullying. Will have a "tree" in class with ideas on how to stop bullying.
AL	SirGENTZ INC	SirGENTZ Inc. will promote bullying prevention to schools to participate for the cause and encourage the community to pledge to take a Stand. We will participate in UNITY DAY and distribute Bookmarks. We will let everyone know about National Bullying Prevention Month by notifying local media, sharing information on Facebook and Twitter, and influence key decision makers, such as school administrators and lawmakers. We will also do a BE THERE campaign photo shoot. Our Gentlemen Academy will implement the WE WILL Generation Curriculum.
AL	Caring People/Valerie Watkins	During the month of October Caring People will be going into the schools in Eutaw, Alabama to educate children about how important it is not to bully others.
AL	Sacred Heart School	Dress up days for Bullying Prevention and Drug Awareness. Assembly on October 24. Lessons about bullying.
AL	Randolph Park Elementary/Tenth Street Elementary	We will be participating in Unity Day by wearing Orange on October 24, 2018 and having a Unity Walk during P.E. The students will also participate in bullying prevention guidance lessons throughout the entire month of October. Finally, the students will sign a bullying free pledge.
AL	Southern Choctaw Elementary School	We will be starting a bullying prevention club to help prevent bullying at the school.
AR	Miss Victorious Pageant	We promote bullying prevention awareness in our state and community by holding an annual girls’ pageant, where we have girls who have been targets of bullying speak publicly and write a short essay as to why bullying needs to be prevented, and how they would promote bullying prevention efforts. This is the 4th year we have done this. Our Pageant judges choose 4 of the young ladies to be the year’s spokespersons in our bullying prevention efforts. These girls spend their year speaking out about bullying in our schools, churches, and on local TV. We also observe Unity Day in an awesome way in our local Intermediate School, where we have a guest speaker, and the students share their voice against bullying through singing, dancing and skits to instruct their peers about the dangers of bullying and help them see solutions on how to prevent it.

AZ	Greenway Middle School- No Place For Hate program	We have a school wide program called No Place For Hate that is embedded in our culture and climate. We have a student group called the No Place For Hate Elite that facilitates peer mediation. Our No Place For Hate program combats bullying, bias, bigotry, and harassment. We are the first middle school in Arizona to earn the No Place For Hate designation for 6 years in a row!
AZ	LiveLikeLexi Inc.	#LiveLikeLexi serves as an outreach educational program with Bullying Awareness Assemblies and events in schools.
AZ	Sports Bully Inc.	Sports Bully Inc. promotes anti-bullying and empowers young athletes to be positive influences in their communities through sports programs, workshops, and community events.
CA	Let's Argue: Elementary	The Pepperdine Waves Debate’s Let’s Argue series empowers young people to become advocates for themselves and their communities by equipping them with the skills and confidence necessary to craft logical, persuasive arguments in various settings. Our students are trained to engage their peers across differences, communicate with empathy, and create healthy spaces for interaction.
CA	Anti-Bullying Institute	The Anti-Bullying Institute offers hands-on programs designed to empower children, parents, schools and youth organization personnel to effectively deal with the issue of bullying. These programs include parent classes in English and Spanish, conferences and education programming and our HERO program, which is a program for children in schools and our community that include awareness, activities, events and recognition throughout the year.
CA	Act Like You Matter	We run anti-bullying workshops for San Diego County schools that are custom-designed, age-appropriate, and student-led. All content is solution-driven: packed with tools and strategies students can use immediately to overcome and combat bullying. All workshops are run by students ages 11-18 from Theatre of Peace: Bullying Awareness Acting Troupe, a division of Act Like You Matter - run by students for students.
CA	Boo2Bullying, Inc.	We are hosting our 4th Annual Take A Bite Out of Bullying WHEN: Thursday, July 26th, 2018; 6-9pm WHERE: The Village At Ed Gould Plaza, 1125 N McCadden Pl, Los Angeles, 90038. Boo2Bullying presents the 3rd Annual Desert's Got Talent April 27, 2019 held at The Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
CA	John Muir Elementary (Antioch)	John Muir Elementary is continuing to implement "Be the Change Month" in October. We will also be participating in Unity Week in which our student council "PALS" will doing daily activities promoting kindness and inclusion. In the spring, the school counselor will be focusing grade level lessons on empathy and kindness. The counselor will also lead a girls empowerment group to reduce relational aggression. It was important for the parents of our students to be involved as well. On back to school night, the school counselor discussed with the families the difference between bullying and conflict and how they can be a support. Lastly, our school will be participating in "The Great Kindness Challenge" in January. We want students to know that "being respectful" is not just a rule to follow, but it is also their right as a person to be respected.
CA	Fairgrove Elementary	We are going to have a bullying prevention workshop and are going to encourage all the kids to sign the no bullying pledge!
CA	Gorman Elementary School	We will have an Orange Day and put up posters.
CA	T.E.A. Academy	We will be wearing orange on the specified day. We also provide youth girls with resources and hold small empowerment groups discussing bullying.

CA	Journey DanceSport	We have hosted PACER’s staff, Judy French, from the LA Office at two of our competitions this year. With PACER’s help and resources we are reaching out to help educate parents and children about bullying.

CA	Love Harder Project	The Love Harder Project was founded out of a fan violence incident in 2011. Founded by former third base coach of the San Francisco Giants, Tim Flannery, the Love Harder Project has been raising funds through music and merchandise to benefit those affected by bullying, violence and hate. We have donated money for bullying prevention curriculum, buddy benches, and other programs.
CA	Benavidez Elementary School	We will teach curriculum, wear staff Unity Day shirts, work together during ASB led lunch activities, and lead social-emotional learning conversations.
CA	360 Krav Maga	We have a kids martial arts program. We teach children discipline, focus, teamwork, confidence, and respect. We run an anti-bullying based curriculum in the summer. All of our regular classes include anti-bullying information and perspectives. We are going to participate in National Bullying Prevention Month by a media awareness campaign, class discussion, and disseminating information to parents.

CA	Imperial Courts Housing Development Watts	We will be committed to using the entire month of October to promote bullying prevention and awareness. Youth Leaders will challenge all Imperial Youth to take the pledge to stand against bullying and report any behavior that leads to bullying. Youth leaders will hold weekly rallies and providing their peers with information about the impact of bullying. On October 24th, Unity Day, all youth will participate in a March against bullying and have been encouraged to wear orange T-shirts. We have been working really hard to ensure that Imperial Courts Housing Development is a bully free zone and all young people feel safe and supported.

CA	International Children's Academy	Every class PreK-5 has participated in anti-bullying lessons that taught bullying and how to: recognize it, understand it, prevent it, and take action against it. We have read many books about celebrating differences and uniting together to take a stand. Students also signed a pledge to take a stand against bullying.
CA	Face2Face Youth Group, Inc.	We host Teen Talk group discussion events and an Anti-Bullying Workshop for youth.
CA	Stop Bullying Me Gold	Stop Bullying Me Gold educational videos are being shown in middle schools throughout Simi Valley and has been presented at significant institutions such as the Ronald Reagan Library.
CA	Cantor Estherleon Schwartz, Beth Shirah House of Song	I presented at Animo Pat Brown Charter School and Fairfax High School. I also have a book meditation series to help people reduce stress and find inner peace. And I share my personal history as a child holocaust survivor in a memoir. Promoting Gratitude Buddy Circles.
CA	Valley Center High School	We are participating in our 4th annual Unity Day school-wide celebration here at Valley Center High School! Each year, we conduct a connectedness mini-lesson in every classroom. During these activities, each student and staff member creates an individual written or artistic piece to contribute. Then we put them together to create a large, unified art piece to display on campus. On Unity Day, we invite all staff and students to come out and take photos in front of the display. We have lots of orange dress items for additional fun. We also spread positive messages around campus by putting uplifting quotes and sayings on sticky notes around campus. Throughout the year, we hold biweekly Jags United meetings and events for students and staff to get to know each other better and have a little fun!
CA	Mid-Peninsula High School	Bullying awareness.
CA	Albany Children's Center	We will wear orange, sign the unity pledge, hold a community unity sing on the yard where we come together as a school to sing songs.
CO	Munroe Elementary School	We will hold an Upstander Assembly and our students are making a copy of their footprint (in orange) to write how they are 'taking a step' towards ending bullying at Munroe. Our 500 students have made 500 orange pinwheels describing how they can help create a world without bullying that will be placed on our front yard of our school. We also created a video that involved our students and our efforts to end bullying. Lots of fun at Munroe!

CO	Another Life Foundation	Another Life Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to help those battling mental illness. Our bullying prevention campaign focuses on awareness, education, and advocacy to prevent bullying and issues related to suicide. This year we will be hosting a public awareness event in October, Also, we will host a book display at a local library. And lastly, we are submitting a proclamation to the governor of the state of Colorado for the month of October.
CT	The Joy Company	The Joy Company creates content for young children, teachers and parents that teaches them about bullying, why it happens and how we can all work together to end it.
CT	St Brigid-St Augustine Partnership School	Bullying prevention education, research essays in the middle school, peer education, bullying prevention prayer service, blue shirt day, and Unity Day.
CT	Derby Middle School	Derby Middle School participated in Unity Day by completing a Unity Tree. The Art club created the background and students wrote positive messages on leaves to be hung as part of the display. All students discussed bullying prevention in advisory.

FL	Center for Cyber Safety and Education	Cyber Safety Day New Orleans: a one-day event where we'll provide Garfield's Cyber Safety Adventures to every 3rd grader in New Orleans. So far, we've secured materials for over 1,000 kids. The lesson covers the basics about being safe online.
FL	Ronald Reagon High Doral	Our school does a school wide activity and we all wear Orange on October 24th. We also write positive notes and place them around the school, and student have lunch with students they normally don't sit with to encourage new friendships.
FL	Burns Middle School	Our students will be encouraged to participate in a Pledge Signing event. We will pass out flyers to promote the event. We are also going to tie this event into a pep rally. We sent home information to each family about Unity Day, as well as wore orange as a school in support of Unity Day. We have read many books and our 4th and 3rd graders wrote an anti-bullying pledge. GA	Empathy Starts Now	Georgia governor Nathan Deal has signed a proclamation for October as Bullying Prevention Month in Georgia. Not only was it Empathy Starts Now that initiated this proclamation, but ESN also volunteers in local service projects around the community in efforts to spread bullying prevention awareness.
GA	Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club	Bullying Prevention Walk, guest speakers discussing bullying, Smart Girls- discussing how to be a friend, Passport 2 Manhood- discussing how to treat others and make a difference in the community.

IL	Pontiac Township High School	We are holding our Annual Unity Day on October 24, 2018. We are inviting everyone to wear orange and to sign our Unity Banner. We will also be serving free ice cream to the entire school during lunch.
IN	Central Indiana Law Enforcement Training Network	The Central Indiana Law Enforcement Training Network provides educational opportunities to local schools, corporations, as well as community organizations on bullying prevention and intervention.
IN	Hill Academy of Martial Arts	I am a martial arts school instructor and I teach all of my students regardless of age about the effects of bullying and how we can prevent it. I also plan on reaching out to schools in the area and going in to talk to the students.
IN	G.A.B. Girls	We run bullying prevention workshops for ages 9-18 that are custom-designed, age-appropriate, and develop self-esteem through games and craft projects. We have presented at school assemblies, parent and teacher workshops, resource fairs, and clubs. We participate in UNITY DAY and have distributed Bookmarks. We use social media as a positive resource by letting everyone know about National Bullying Prevention Month by notifying local media, sharing information on Facebook and Twitter, and influence key decision makers. I think the biggest impact is that I tell my story in hopes that I reach as many people as I can to encourage kindness, self-esteem and leadership.

Currently, our founder, 10-year old Izzi, is sharing her story about experiencing bullying and suicidal thoughts, educating youth on differences in peers and is on a mission to "Bring Back Nice" to the world. A new family musical, offers a great way for schools and other youth serving organizations to address bullying and to bring awareness to the broader community. Performers and audiences will gain invaluable social skills, as lively and empowering songs encourage us to treat each other with kindness and respect in an imperfect world, without individual stereotyping or stigmatizing. The musical is aimed at elementary and middle school audiences, but BULLY NO MORE! was written to appeal to families. The 9 roles can be divided and a chorus/dance group can be added for a large cast. Costumes can be animals, shapes, colors, or anything in the director/actors' imagination. They receive a "kindness coin." We have 6 PACER Unity Day posters displayed throughout the school. We will watch videos from PACER’s website and we sent a Kindness lesson link to all staff. Each classroom teacher was given "orange Hands" for each of their students to fill out after following the prompt: “I can make others feel included (for 3rd-5th add “respected”). The hope is that these "hands" are all placed on our walls and connected. Our amazing 5th graders will hold a "Kindness Hunt" again this year. They hide slips of "random acts of kindness" all around the school and outside for other students to find them. The admin and I are separately teaching Second Step Bullying lessons to all K-5th grades. We are all in at NHE!!

Also active with N.G.Os, organizations, workshops, seminars, professionals, training centers and institutions to prevent and avoid bullying, violence, hate speech, and to promote the culture of peace and love .Our country is in war now and students, teachers and educators are experiencing bullying and crisis every day. We offer the UEB Annual Grant Program in the spring and an annual Coloring & Poster Contest in the fall. We support schools and organizations working with students to encourage their bullying prevention and kindness initiatives.
