EX.I.T.E. Camp (EXploring Interests in Technology and Engineering)

What is EX.I.T.E. Camp?

PACER’s EX.I.T.E. Camp empowers middle school girls and gender-expansive youth with disabilities in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). EX.I.T.E. Camp provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for fun, hands-on learning, and is a place to meet new friends and create lasting memories.

Throughout the camp, campers will explore a variety of engaging activities that inspire curiosity and learning in STEM.

In 2024, campers enjoyed:

  • An up-close look at amazing animals from the Minnesota Zoo.
  • A sweet and safe candy demonstration that explored nuclear chemical reactions with Xcel Energy.
  • A fun bridge design and building engineering exercise with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
  • An exploration of the world of coding with Best Buy and IBM by programming different robots to perform tasks.

And so much more!

Please contact Christine Retzlaff at (952) 838-1407 or [email protected] for questions and more information.

Company partners and PACER staff create and lead the activities. Your role will involve adapting the activities and providing individual assistance to meet the diverse needs of each camper, ensuring they have a fun and educational experience. Collaboration with other staff members and parents will be essential to ensure the safety and well-being of the campers. Previous experience with children with disabilities and a passion for STEM education is preferred.

Teachers are required to attend all camp days at PACER Center and one pre-camp meeting (virtually or in person).
