Some of your favorite videos that we released in this series have been about cyberbullying, so this week we want to share a unique perspective where we talked with middle school students about all things internet. They share some of their favorite and least favorite things about being online as well as what they want their parents to know about cyberbullying. They have some really awesome insight to share, and I think you'll love this video. Let's get into it. First question is: What is your favorite thing about the internet or about social media?
>> It can help you during school because if you don't know stuff or, like, different knowledge that you need for a test that you're not in school for.
>> My favorite thing about the internet is that you can talk to people, but you also get to talk with family, your friends, and you can meet someone new on the internet and they can be your friend also.
>> What is your least favorite thing about the internet or social media?
>> It's, one, people make fun of people for like being not great at, like, stuff, and two, they swear too much.
>> The fact that it's an easy way that you can get bullied on, and you can get in a lot of trouble on the internet.
>> What is your definition of cyberbullying?
>> Cyberbullying is when someone, like, pulls something bad about another person, "Hey, this person did something that's bad," and then everyone starts talking about that person at school, at work, or at wherever you are, and it just starts crumbling that person because they feel bad of what happened to them, but they didn't do anything to themselves that would have been bad.
>> It's bullying where you can't see others and you know that they can't see you, so most people that do it think they're mostly safe.
>> I just call it rudeness.
>> What is one question you'd want your parents to ask you about social media or cyberbullying?
>> I think they would need to know about certain games and apps that their kids knkow about -- know and use.
>> Has anyone -- has anyone made, like, fun of you, and I would be, like, yes, but I didn't care.
>> If you were being bullied online, what would you want your parents to do to help you?
>> Try to talk to the kid, the parent, or possibly find another person at school or at work that would help me or a friend I know to stop that bullying or, like, possibly just make that person stop or try to help that person stop.
>> I'd want them to get involved with it and just help me get through it.
>> And that wraps up this week's episode of PACER Talks about Bullying. Thank you so much to all of the amazing students that participated and shared their ideas with us. We'll see you right back here next week, and remember, together we can create a world without bullying. See ya.
