Kathleen Morrison

St. Paul, MN

Kathleen Morrison is the definition of unify. Just walk down the hallways of St. Anthony Village High School and you will see a senior leader bringing together everyone that she comes in contact with. It does not matter to Kathleen if you are a freshmen or a senior, a member of the robotics team or a member of the football team, she will treat you like her best friend. Kathleen is involved in as many activities as she can: she is a member of the National Honor Society, she is involved in the student council, for the past two years, she has been the manager and biggest supporter of the volleyball team, and she is also currently a member of the Student Board of Directors for Unified Schools while helping create a Unified Club at St. Anthony. Outside of school Kathleen is an active member of her church youth advisory, leading middle school student groups during the school year and elementary students during summer camp. Kathleen has also worked with the MN State Fair Kemps Little Farm Hands as a volunteer for over 5 years. As an individual with Down syndrome, she encourages us to overcome obstacles and to see our challenges as opportunities to excel, even when it's difficult. As a senior, Kathleen is leaving a lasting mark on her school, and those around her fully believe that she will continue to unify any and every community she is a part of in the future.

How do you help build UNITY
in your community?

This video features an interview with Kathleen responding about how she builds unity, followed by her interviewing Dr. C, the school’s superintendent.

“It is important for everyone to have a sense of belonging and purpose. All you need to do is invite people to become involved in the community.”
