I Care Because

Emotional scars don't always show benieth our smiles.

Caroline, 45, New Orleans, Louisiana

I've been bullying since i was in kinder garden. I really wanted to be home schooled but my mom didn't let me so i had to learn how to deal with this.
Now i'm in my senior year and the bullying stopped, but i'll never forget those years...

A lot of people bully me
for being...
not cool,
not pretty,
not popular,
i agree with them.
i'm NOT cool.
NOT pretty.
NOT popular.
but i'm ok with that, because i have friends who love me. They say "Why try and fit in?" well i'm done with bullying, we need to put a stop to it, my close friend almost went ahead with suicide because of it. my friend maria said "nobody should endure this, because its our faults, and our quirks, that make us strong.<3" and i agree with her. Stop bullying, for the future of everyone, who'd want to grow up in a world like that anyways?.

Shalese, 13, TX

People at my school called me fat and ugly. Although this was terrible, worse than that was the fact that my best friend did the same thing. From this experience I learned that beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It's about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart and a pretty soul. Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.

KAITLYN, 9, PA

I've been homeschooled most of my life, up until this year. And I was amazed at how condescending and hurtful kids can be. No wonder hardly any teenagers have confidence! I'm going to do everything in my power to encourage kids and treat everyone with respect. One thing to tell yourself if you're being bullied is: "If I don't stand up for myself or find some way to prevent it, I'm only encouaging it." By standing up you're doing them a favor too.
