PACER Center will host national dyslexia experts on June 7

Minneapolis: PACER Center will present Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, co-directors of the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity, and national experts on dyslexia, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 in the auditorium at Oak Grove Middle School, 1300 W. 106th St., Bloomington. They will discuss “The Paradox of Dyslexia: Slow Readers and Fast Thinkers.”

The Drs. Shaywitz will discuss screening, diagnosis, evidence-based interventions, and new educational approaches to dyslexia. They will also talk about the importance of recognizing the abilities of children with dyslexia, including examples of people with dyslexia who are at the very top of their career fields.

“We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to host Drs. Sally and Bennett Shaywitz, who are leading the research of dyslexia,” said Paula Goldberg, executive director of PACER Center. “Many children are affected by dyslexia and it’s important to understand how to help them reach their highest potential.”

Copies of Dr. Sally Shaywitz’s award-winning and bestselling book, Overcoming Dyslexia, will be available for purchase, and she will sign copies after the presentation.

The cost of this workshop is $20 and pre-registration is required; contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), or visit PACER.org/paradoxofdyslexia.
