Workshops
PACER Center offers free workshops throughout Minnesota to parents of children with disabilities and the professionals working with families.
Workshop topics include areas of interest in special education, including information on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) program, early childhood, the area of transition for students 14-21 (housing, post secondary, employment, and community), assistive technology, and many more!

EX.I.T.E. Camp - Day 5 and Closing Ceremony - see flyer
Attention middle-school girls with disabilities! Roll up your sleeves and prepare to get messy with science. EX.I.T.E. camp will have you exploring, discovering, creating, and challenging yourself to investigate the world around you through technology. EX.I.T.E. Camp is for girls with disabilities who will enter 6th - 9th grade during the 2008-2009 school year, like science, and work well in a hands-on environment.

Creation Station: Get Crazy with Clay
However you squish it, squash it, or squeeze it, Sclupey™ clay gives shape to your imagination. Make a colorful keychain, necklace, or anything else you can dream up. Creation Station staff will lead activities as well as inspire attendees to make amazing works of art. All Creation Station events are free but registration is required. Staff and volunteers will be present to facilitate activities; however, adults must stay to supervise as needed.

Participants will learn about such topics as how to create a vision for the future, what youth with disabilities need to succeed after school, how to use the IEP as a playbook for a successful transition, and who plays a key role on the transition team. Each family attending will receive a packet of helpful resource materials.

The ABCs of Early Literacy
A free workshop for parents of children from birth through age 5 with developmental delays or disabilities. Early literacy skills are the foundation for developing language and reading skills. They're also essential for school success. Whatever your young child's level of ability, you can help promote those important skills through everyday activities. Technology for Girls Workshop: Dream It, Build-It! - see flyer
If you can dream it, you can build it! Join us to put your creative thinking skills to the test while we design bridges, boats, and more. Toothpicks, pennies, aluminum foil, gumdrops, straws, and clay will be used to make a variety of structures. We will test our structures by adding weight. Technology for Girls Workshop: Forensics, Be a CSI! - see flyer
Put on you lab coats and come to PACER to be a Crime Scene Investigator (CSI)! We will explore the science of forensics by fingerprinting, analyzing powders, making teeth impressions, and determining someone’s height based on their shoe size. We will test our CSI skills by analyzing data and solving a mock crime!
