PACER will host 13th annual Housing Resource and Information Fair

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer its 13th annual Housing Resource and Information Fair, a free event for parents of teens and young adults with disabilities. It will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 15 at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington.

Parents of teens and young adults with disabilities will learn about services and housing options. From 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., keynote speakers will offer “Parent Voices”; from 9:30 a.m. to noon, an open house will feature housing providers, information and advocacy organizations, and networking with other parents.

State and county specialists will be available to answer questions. Representatives will be on site from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department, Ramsey County Department of Community Human Services, Dakota County Community Living Services, Washington County Community Services, and the Minnesota Disability Law Center.

A parent from last year’s event found it to be incredibly helpful in her son’s transition planning.

“We were able to work with a few providers to combine resources that will meet my son’s individual needs as he transitions from a group home to his own home,” she said.

Registration is encouraged. To register, contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), email [email protected], or visit PACER.org/workshops.
