PACER Center workshop in Stillwater will address success in employment for youth with disabilities

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “Employment and Beyond,” a free workshop for families of transition-age/high school students and adults with disabilities. The workshop will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, in Room LL16 of the Washington County Government Center, 14949 62nd St. N., Stillwater.

Individuals can meet with employment support vendors beginning at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the service options they provide.

During the workshop, participants can explore employment and alternatives, support options, resources, and new federal regulations regarding subminimum wage. Topics will include:

  • The role of families in employment
  • Transportation
  • New federal regulations
  • Employment supports and alternatives

Presenters will be from PACER Center, Metropolitan Center for Independent Living, Vocational Rehabilitation Services/MN Department of Employment and Economic Development, and Washington County Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Unit.
