PACER Center workshop in Bemidji will address the ‘ABCs of the IEP’

Minneapolis: PACER Center will offer “The ABCs of the IEP: A Guide for Minnesota Parents,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities on an IEP, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2508 Washington Ave. S.E., Bemidji.

This workshop will help parents understand how to use the Individualized Education Program (IEP) to benefit their child. Participants will use the PACER booklet titled “Guide for Minnesota Parents to the IEP” to understand how each required part of the IEP can be developed to meet their child’s needs.

Parents will gain knowledge about how to effectively participate in the annual IEP meeting. Topics will include measurable annual goals, progress reports, and direct and indirect services.

To participate in the workshop, parents need to bring a copy of their child’s most recent school special education evaluation report and their child’s current IEP.

This session is co-sponsored by the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.

To register for this free workshop, contact PACER Center at (952) 838-9000 or (800) 537-2237 (toll free), email PACER@PACER.org, or visit PACER.org/workshops.
