Simon Technology Center open house focuses on assistive technology for people with disabilities
PACER’s Simon Technology Center is presenting its 22nd annual open house, with a focus on current trends in assistive technology for people with disabilities. The free event is for parents, children, and professionals. It is on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Assistive technology provides many options for improving communication, computer accessibility, education, literacy, recreation, vision, and more.
- Come talk with vendors.
- Sample assistive technology.
- Attend hands-on computer sessions on several topics, including social networking and Internet safety for kids.
- Register for prizes.
- Have fun with accessible art projects, a magic show, adapted bikes, and other great activities.
The Simon Technology Center staff will provide information on assistive technology services, technology lending programs, and products offered by PACER Center.

PACER Center is a parent center for families of children and young adults with any disability. PACER provides individual assistance, workshops, publications, and other resources to help families make decisions about education and other services for their child or young adult with disabilities.
