PACER Center workshop focuses on transition planning for youth with disabilities

PACER Center is offering “Focus on Transition,” a free workshop for parents of transition-age youth with disabilities. It is on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Monticello Community Center, 505 Walnut St., Monticello, Minn. Advance registration is requested.

This workshop will help parents understand the importance of planning for their young adult’s future employment and independent living. Topics include:

  • Transition legislation
  • Five transition areas
  • Ways to gather information about their young adult’s interests, preferences, strengths, and challenges
