PACER workshop for foster and surrogate parents addresses special education
PACER Center is offering “Foster and Surrogate Parents: Understanding Special Education,” a free workshop for foster and surrogate parents of children with disabilities and for professionals who are involved with foster children or wards of the state. It is on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Participants will learn about:
- The special education process, including identification and evaluation of children with disabilities
- Which children must be assigned surrogate parents
- Who may serve as a surrogate parent
- Effective home-school collaboration
