PACER workshop discusses public services for children with special health care needs and disabilities
PACER Center is offering “Getting the Help You Need,” a free workshop for parents of children with special health care needs and disabilities. It is on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
This workshop offers families information on state and county services that can help with issues as diverse as:
- Coverage for copays
- Personal care attendants
- Grants for adapted recreational equipment
- Waivers that may provide pay to parents so they can spend more time caring for their children
The workshop will cover public programs such as medical assistance, TEFRA, home- and community-based waivers, consumer-directed community supports, county services, and grants available from counties. Presenters include Bud Rosenfield of the Minnesota Disability Law Center and Jerry Mellum of Hennepin County.
To register, call PACER at 952-838-9000 or 952-838-0190 (TTY). In Greater Minnesota, call 800-537-2237 (toll free) or visit PACER.org.
