PACER workshop addresses instructional interventions
PACER Center is offering “Intervention: A New First Step,” a free workshop for parents and professionals. It is on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is a tiered approach that may provide additional instruction to elementary school students who have academic or behavior issues. Students who do not benefit from the interventions may be referred for a special education evaluation.
Participants will learn what RTI is, how it works, how it may affect students with and without disabilities, and what role the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) plays.
The workshop will be presented by staff from the MDE in collaboration with PACER Center.
To register for the workshop, call PACER at 952-838-9000 or 952-838-0190 (TTY). In Greater Minnesota, call 800-537-2237 (toll free) or visit PACER.org.
PACER Center is a parent center for families of children and young adults with any disability. PACER provides individual assistance, workshops, publications, and other resources to help families make decisions about education and other services for their child or young adult with disabilities.
