PACER Center workshop addresses ways to create a positive school climate

PACER Center is offering “Understanding Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports,” a free workshop for parents and professionals. It is on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Moorhead Area Public Schools, Probstfield Center for Education, 2410 14th St. S., Moorhead, Minn. Advance registration is requested.

A positive school environment helps all students do better academically. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) can help schools achieve a positive school climate—especially when parents are involved.

This workshop will help parents and professionals understand the concept of PBIS and its application for all students. Participants will:
  • Build a common knowledge about PBIS
  • Learn effective alternatives to punishment
  • Reinforce positive behavioral skills in children
  • Share common strengths, successes, and frustrations
  • Discover how schools are implementing PBIS

To register, call PACER at 952-838-9000 or 952-838-0190 (TTY). In Greater Minnesota, call 800-537-2237 (toll free) or visit PACER.org.
