MN PIRC Offers Training to Help Schools Comply with New NCLB Mandates
The Minnesota Parental Information and Resource Center (MN PIRC) has recently awarded eight $1,000 mini-grants to Title I schools in Minnesota. These grants were awarded to schools with innovative or unique parent involvement activities that link parent involvement to student academic achievement. The activities include family events, parent training, and learning-at-home activities. MN PIRC worked with each of the awarded schools to link parent involvement activities to improving student learning.
The award recipients are:
- Brooklyn Center Public Schools
- Earle Brown Elementary IB World School
- Duluth Public Schools
- Laura MacArthur Elementary
- Fertile-Beltrami Schools
- Fertile-Beltrami Elementary
- St. Louis Park Public Schools
- Aquila Primary Center
- Cedar Manor Intermediate Center
- St. Paul Public Schools
- Battle Creek Middle School
- Crossroads Arts and Science
- Four Seasons A+ Elementary School
“These eight Minnesota schools exemplify a wonderful commitment to parent involvement that will improve the achievement of all children in their communities,” said Heather Kilgore, MN PIRC program coordinator. “We're pleased to reward schools that think about partnership with parents and their communities in new ways.”
