MN PIRC Offers Training to Help Schools Comply with New NCLB Mandates
The Minnesota Parental Information and Resource Center (MN PIRC), in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education, is offering training to help schools statewide comply with new federal mandates of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Among the new requirements for schools is a comprehensive effort to inform parents of their options and rights when schools are identified for improvement. The training is offered at various locations around the state. Registration is required.
Titled “Learn to Write Effective Parental Involvement Plans and School-Parent Compacts,” the training will help school or district teams of parents, teachers, and administrators learn the basic components of an effective, comprehensive parental involvement program. Participants will prepare a customized plan for a year of parental involvement, including Title I requirements, parent notification, and school-parent compacts.
The training will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at these locations:
- Feb. 26: Northern Coalition Education Center, 114 W. First St., Thief River Falls, MN
March 5: South Central Service Cooperative, 1610 Commerce Dr., North Mankato, MN
April 1: Resource Training & Solutions, 4150 Second St. S., Suite 550, St Cloud, MN 56302
