PACER Center workshop explores digital books
PACER Center is offering “All About Digital Books,” a free workshop for parents and professionals who have students with print-related disabilities. It is on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at PACER Center, 8161 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
Topics include:
- What are digital books? In what formats are they available?
- Why are digital books important for students with disabilities?
- Where can I obtain digital books for my student?
- What software and hardware are needed to access digital books?
- Can schools provide digital textbooks?
- How do copyright laws affect students with print disabilities?
Participants will learn about several online resources, software programs, and devices that can be used to access and customize digital books to meet the needs of students with print disabilities.
