PACER Center workshop teaches how to become a public policy advocate for special education
PACER Center is offering “Speak Up for Special Education,” a free workshop for parents of children with disabilities. It is on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at New Hope Learning Center, 8301 47th Ave. N., New Hope, Minn. Advance registration is requested.
This workshop is for parents who want to learn how to become public policy advocates.
Participants will have an opportunity to meet with elected officials and to learn:
- Skills and techniques to communicate with elected officials
- What happened in the 2008 legislative session
- Potential issues facing Minnesota’s special education system in 2009
